Mick McCarthy to be named new Norwich City boss
Delia Smith has wasted no time in hiring Mick McCarthy to replace current Carrow Road boss Daniel Farke.
The Ipswich Town manager has been told his contract is not being renewed, and Norwich have been quick to act.
McCarthy, who has won promotions with Wolves and Sunderland, will join Norwich City at the end of the season.
Many Canaries fans have been impressed with the way McCarthy has run affairs at Portman Road with little budget.
And Delia believes he will be able to get much more than Farke from the Norwich squad, which has underperformed hugely since relegation from the Premiership.
A Carrow Road insider said: “We are delighted to confirm that Mick McCarthy will be joining Norwich City this summer as manager of the football club.
“Daniel Farke will remain on the coaching staff for the time being, and we would like to thank him for his efforts this season.
“Under Mick, we expect Norwich to make at least the play-offs this season, and we know he will be absolutely fired up for our derby matches against Ipswich Town.”
Norwich supporter Ian Wayne, of La Fir Polo Road in Norwich, said: “We would normally want to have nothing to do with anything associated with Ipswich.
“But Mick McCarthy has been such a great success there for five years, that this was too good an opportunity to miss.”
